Qur'an and Nausheed Competition

The PTA celebrated with the participants and the winners of the Qur'an and Nausheed Competition held on Saturday 2 May 2009.

The level of entries on both aspects of the competition was very high. An independent panel consisting of the Maulana Habib-Ur-Rahman, the Vice Chair of the Manchester Islamic Educational Trust, Mr Salim Estwani, a Trustee, Ozair Tayab, a former student of KD and Hifz of the Qur'an and Sheik Mohammed, an Imam from abroad, currently situated at Cheadle Masjid, judged the final winners.

The winner of the Qur'an competition was Mohammed Zakariya Year 8, with Mohammed Saeed, Year 7 coming second. The Winner of the Nausheed competition was Rashaad Khalil Year 7. Congratulations and well done!

Recitations were beautiful and testament to the efforts put into such pupils by the schools Qur'an department as well as local Masjid's which some of the pupils attend in addition to Qur'an lessons at school. All participants received runner up prizes in view of the effort they had made to contribute in such a noble event.

As always, thanks to all parents, pupils and staff who participated in the event to make it another successful one. Furthermore, a very special thank you to all those volunteers who worked behind the scenes, especially, Mrs Shanaz Mahmood, our wonderful in-house cook who prepared most of the food which was absolutely delicious!

The purpose of such events is to inspire both parents and the youth of today to pursue the art of Qur'anic recitation, which is spiritually uplifting and more importantly, helps in the understanding of the Qur'an.

We hope to see more of you in our next event Insha'Allah.
